Ashlee Simpson will go by Ashlee Wentz in private, and will be known professionally as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, according to a report on People.com following her marriage to Pete Wentz. “I think that that’s something that a woman should do when they’re marrying a man,” she said. “It’s a tradition that I think is a great tradition.”
MADONNA GETS CHILD
A judge in Lilongwe, Malawi, on Wednesday approved Madonna’s adoption of a Malawian boy she met in an orphanage in 2006. The singer wasn’t in court for the ruling, which took Justice Andrew Nyirenda an hour to read. Nyirenda said he was satisfied that Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, “are perfect parents” for David, who will be 3 in November. “It’s now official; David is Madonna’s baby,” said the singer’s Malawian lawyer.
COUNTRY MUSIC FANS’ TOKEN ITEM FOR THE WEEK
Chris Cagle was arrested for domestic assault Wednesday following a fight with his girlfriend. A police affidavit said the country music singer and his girlfriend, Jennifer Tant, were intoxicated, and an argument turned physical early Wednesday. Corrections officials said both were jailed on misdemeanor domestic assault charges.
ACTRESS RETURNS TO ROOTS, RUNS SCREAMING FROM THEM
Eva Longoria Parker took time to dish out Frostys and french fries at a Wendy’s restaurant. The “Desperate Housewives” star worked the drive-thru at the restaurant Tuesday to help kick off the Father’s Day Frosty Weekend, an event that donates 50 cents for every Frosty sold to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and its signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids. Longoria Parker worked at Wendy’s from 1991 to 1994, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported in its online edition.
